Rosie the Riveter at Heinz History Center Pittsburgh
Hearing last week that the Mary Doyle Keefe (the model for Norman Riockwell's Rosie the Riveter painting) had passed away, I was so sad. My husband is a huge fan of World War II art and I grew up hearing about the back story of Rosie and how her painting inspired women that normally spent their days taking care of the family to head to the factories to support the war and its cause.
Last week, Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh opened its We Can Do It! WWII exhibition which focuses on Pittsburgh's role on the battlefield as well as at home during the war.
During our visit to The Strip District last Saturday we walked by Heinz history Center and couldn't help but stop and take a photo of the front entrance to the center.
Now, I can't wait to find the time to visit the 10,00 square foot exhibit. I can do it!
