Smithfield Street Bridge in Pittsburgh: Sunset in The City of Bridges #LovePGH

I've crossed the Smithfield Street Bridge in Pittsburgh dozens of times- for parades, for construction, and for an easy way to get from the Station Square/ South Side area to Downtown Pittsburgh. The architecture and construction always enchants me and I often find myself standing and staring it with my mouth gaping. The bridge was constructed from 1881 through 1883 and was opened to pedestrians and drivers on March 19, 1883.

This week the bridge looked particularly stunning and I had to take a photo of it so I could share it with you. We walked across the bridge just as the sun was setting and, once we crossed, I had to turn back and look at the beauty of the Pittsburgh skyline and the cloudless sky.

Of the 446 bridges in Pittsburgh, the Smithfield Street Bridge is on my top 10 list.

Happy Travels!
