Gold: Hillman Hall of Minerals and Gems in Pittsburgh
So many times I have visited Hillman Hall at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, PA, and so many times I have come home disappointed that all of my photos were just- meh.
But not last Friday.
Our new Nikon D3300 takes one heck of a photo in a museum-type setting and this time instead of exhaling and slapping my hand to my forehead, I sat in my computer chair and smiled.
This is just one of thundreds of gem and mineral specimens the hall showcases and its a beauty. Gold in its natural form lacks the super shine and luster that can be easily added by buffing wheels. The hall is a must-stop for me, and with its perfect lighting and calming nature, I'm happy to spend a ton of time moseying through the exhibits and exhibit cases. This gigantic chuck is straight out of California and looks like it has a crumbly texture.
