A Room with a View: Westin Cleveland Downtown #ThisIsCLE
Mr. Locke and I sat at the Westin Cleveland Downtown in its Executive Lounge yesterday morning, drinking coffee and enjoying the gorgeous views out of the windows on the 22nd floor. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lakes Science Center, and the 9th Street Pier look so pretty from 22 stories above the ground.
He snapped a few photos (one of them this one) and when we got them back to our suite on the same floor I couldn't help but remark that this photo looks like a miniature train display. The ships docked in the harbor and along the pier look like I could simply pick them up and balance them on my finger. He told me he was trying out different settings and filters on our camera when he took this one.
Which then got me thinking about perspective. I know I was in that lounge with Mr. Locke yesterday morning. I watched him take this photo. But, if I hadn't been there, I would have bet my baby toe that this was someone's detailed handiwork and exquisite craftsmanship.
Depending on your camera's setting and what filter you choose for any photo can dramatically set the tone and feel of that photo. This would have just looked like a snap of Lake Erie and the beauty of the shore, but one turn of our Nikon's settings wheel and the perspective was changed.
So, what am I trying to convey as I type this at 6 in the morning?
All I'm saying is sometimes in life all you need to do is change your mind filter or setting for a brand new take on the world. What looks gigantic at the time may look teeny tiny with a new filter or different setting. Turning those wheels in your head can make such a difference.
Heavy for so early, huh? More coffee. Definitely more coffee.
Happy travels!
