You know those kind of books: romantic, heart-wrenching, hopeful. They're the kind of books that resonate through you to your soul, the kind that strike such a heart-warming chord in you that they become impossible to put down.
They're the ones that make it okay to be a hopeless romantic- and proud of it.
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks is all of those descriptions rolled into one unable-to-put-down-for-a-minute novel. Gabby Hollan and Travis Shaw have two completely different personalities: Gabby is a law student with a good-looking boyfriend, Travis is ever the ladies' man. When Gabby moves in next door to Travis along the gorgeous North Carolina coastline, the two are like magnets- they can't be near each other without frustration, yet they can't stay away as well.
On February 5, 2016, Lionsgate is releasing the highly anticipated film adaptation of The Choice. The book will finally be brought to life and fans of the love story are already making plans for opening night.
Chatting About The Choice
When you get two older teens and two sisters in the same room, you know there's bound to be a fun debate about what we're looking forward to most about The Choice movie. And, while we had a hard time putting the books down long enough to look up at each other, we certainly did have a blast passing the copies around and sharing our favorite parts! So, with Dirty Martinis for us and o.j. with grenadine for the teens, we settled in on the couch for a fun night's chat.
We all came up with the same answer about The Choice: we loved it and hope that the book translates well to the big screen! My big sis is such a lover of romance novels and she loves how there's so much excitement and nervous tension at the end of the novel- especially when Gabby gets in the car accident. I mean, when you read through the book for the first time, you're hanging by the end of every page to find out if Gabby will make it through and if Travis, who finally found love, will end up alone.

My niece, however, loves the banter between Gabby and Travis. She mentioned that they are like polar opposites, like magnets actually, and they cannot stay away. I couldn't agree more. The chapter with Gabby's dog and how she has puppies and how Travis comes to her aid? So incredibly sweet and so out of character for Travis- which makes the book even juicier.
It's definite that all of us want to see how the tension between Gabby and Travis is palpable in the movie and just how much Gabby "bothers" Travis. We also cannot wait to see just how much the movie stays in line with the book as well.
When Gabby gets in the car accident and is put on life support, Travis has to make "the choice" of taking out the feeding tube and other means of keeping her alive or allowing Gabby (whom the docs said may never wake up) in a nursing home. Whew. We knew that was a vicious decision but to see it played out on the big screen will be heart wrenching.
I, personally, cannot wait to see the beautiful North Carolina beaches that I've dreamed about in the book. I've visited the Carolina Coast and, with it as the book's backdrop, I'm giddy. I also hope that the movie does the book justice- which I'm sure it will from what I've seen of the previews.
We all want to be hanging on the edge of our seats, we want to fall in love with the on-screen versions of Gabby and Travis, we want to be swept away.
We want to be "bothered".
Will you be making a trip to the theaters on February 5, 2016? I know I cannot wait! Please let me know in the comments what you thought of the movie.
