Rivers of Light Show to Debut on Earth Day at Animal Kingdom: Will You Watch?

Walt Disney World officially announced that Disney's Animal Kingdom will officially debut its new nighttime spectacular, "Rivers of Light" on Saturday, April 22, 2016- Earth Day. If you know your Animal Kingdom trivia, you'll know that the park itself debuted on Earth Day 18 years ago. So, not only is the park celebrating a birthday next month, it will be celebrating a new show!

Taking place on Discovery River between Expedition Everest and Discovery Island (wow, what a view!), and the Tree of Life (Animal Kingdom's icon) will be awoken as the animal spirits living in the tree will be brought to "light" by the magic of fireflies during the show.

Although the exact details or complete show description haven't been released yet, I do know that the show will be a melding of live performances, water screens, live hosting, and amazing animal imagery. The performance will take cues from an ancient lantern festival and the belief that when animals passed, their souls would dance in sky on beautiful rivers of light- the Aurora Borealis.

So, here's my question: will you make a special trip to Walt Disney World to catch an early performance of "Rivers of Light"? We'll be there and I cannot wait to bring you full details and video footage, so follow along with me on social media.

Happy Travels!
